Jean Luc Marteau
Situated in the heart of the plateau de By (north of the Medoc), Château Haut Condissas is like no other. Originally with only 7.4 acres (3 ha) of vines in 1995 it grew to 37 acres (15 ha) based on a meticulous selection of the best vineyard plots of the Domaines Rollan de By. Chosen for their exceptional characteristics owner Jean Guyon manages the vines with love, passion, precision and rigor. The vineyard is located on a clay-gravel hilltop terroir. The vines average 50 years old, the density is 10.000 plants per hectare.WINEMAKING & VINTAGE NOTES
Harvest occurred from October 3 – October 13, 2009 with yields of 40 hl/ha. Grapes are handpicked, collected in small crates and sorted manually in the cellar. Cold pre-fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks, long maceration between 3 and 4 weeks at 82°F in new oak barrels on fine lees. Followed by malolactic fermentation and lees stirring in 100% new oak barrels. First, the wine undergoes micro-bullage or microoxygenation and then is aged on lees with regular bâtonnage during 3 months. 18 months aged in new oak barrels (100% French oak).TASTING NOTES
Château Haut Condissas possesses terrific concentration, perfect balance, and lots of black currant and blueberry fruit intermixed with forrest floor, incense, and cedar wood. Viscous, rich, full-bodied flavors with abundant glycerin as well as fine elegance and purity
reflect a top-notch effort. Pairs well with Asian dishes, hearty fish courses like tuna, mushrooms, pasta, and cheese.
