Innovation, passion and dedication are what drives Jean-Luc and Anne Colombo, whose contributions to Rhône Valley winemaking is unparalleled. Armed with a pharmacy degree, Jean-Luc and his wife, Anne, opened their wine laboratory in 1984, “Centre Oenologique des Côtes du Rhône” and quickly developed a thriving reputation as a wine consultant throughout France. For their significant life-long contributions to their country, both Jean-Luc and Anne have been awarded the French Legion of Honor, France’s highest civilian award. The Colombo’s innovative approach in the northern appellation of Cornas was nothing short of revolutionary. Today, Jean-Luc Colombo’s wines express the typicity of their terroir with elegance and character; The Blanc is dedicated to Jean-Luc and Anne by representing the story of this family between the Northern Rhone (Viognier) with Le Mediterranee (Rolle) in the south.
Les Collines de Laure, meaning the “The hills of Laure” refers to the area where Laure Colombo, Jean-Luc and Anne’s daughter, danced as a child on the hillsides located around the Colombo Domaine.
This is a blend of 50% aromatic Viognier from 20 year-old vines in and around St. Joseph (northern Rhone Valley) and 50% subtle Vermentino (known as Rolle in France) from the Mediterranean in Provence. This is a wine with depth that opens with a rich style due to the Viognier and yet will remain long on the palate due to the balance afforded by the Vermentino blend.
A traditional long fermentation at cool temperatures to preserve the delicate aromas. It is bottled immediately to preserve freshness.
Elegant, dry, and balanced with refreshing notes of pear, peach, apricot and white flowers. Lovely anytime as it accompanies salads as well as richer fare. Great with chicken and or pork of any style while it whispers its affiliation with any seafood; Perfect match with southern French dishes such as grilled fish.
