The fruit of a mission to produce estate-grown wines of exceptional quality and originality, the MontGras estate today encompasses nearly 500 acres planted to vine in the heart of Chile’s wine-producing region. Since the first harvest in the early 1990s, MontGras wines have earned over 200 medals and awards worldwide, garnering international critical acclaim. This wine was created to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of MontGras and showcase their signature winemaking style.WINEMAKING & VINTAGE NOTES
The Cabernet Sauvignon comes from deep, stony alluvial soils on the foothills of the Andes Mountains in the Maipo Valley with vines from between 13 and 43 years. The Carmenère comes from 13 year old vines in Colchagua’s clay soils, Chile’s most renowned winemaking region. The wine is aged seven months in oak (50% French, 50 % American) 40% new, 20% second use, 20% third use and 20% fourth use. Cabernet grapes are hand-harvested at the end of April, with Carmenére grapes picked at the end of May. Fermentation between 84 – 90°F with cold soaking for 2 days and total skin contact for 22 days.TASTING NOTES
