ESTATE ZINFANDEL CHALK HILL - RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY
Russian River Valley
Noble Tree was originally founded as a passion project by two sommeliers/restaurateurs to produce wines for their fellow industry friends. Production began as a true “garagistes-négociant” style winery, focusing on healthy vineyard sources, hand-harvesting and honest winemaking practices. In 2019, Marc D. Taub of Taub Family Vineyards became proprietor of Noble Tree, upholding the mission and essence of the winemaking philosophy: to respect the varietal character and reflect the vineyard site and vintage conditions in each wine.VINTAGE NOTES
This Zinfandel is from a very rocky site in the Middle Reach of the Russian River Valley and Chalk Hill, and is a combination of vines planted in 1885 (some of the oldest vines in Sonoma County) and 1973.WINEMAKING
The clusters were hand-picked, double sorted and fermented whole berry in open-top fermenters for 18 days. Punch-downs, instead of pump-overs were utilized in an effort to keep the wine delicate and avoid over-extraction. Aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 40% new.TASTING NOTES
The dark, inky, garnet and purple color is followed by abundant black cherry and blackberry fruit intermixed with notes of graphite, spice box and earthy undertones. Stunning depth, full-bodied and opulent, while maintaining a sense of elegance, subtlety and balance.
