Located along the Upper Russian River in rugged northern California, Saracina Vineyards is a 400-acre working ranch and California Certified Sustainable winery. Along with breathtaking vistas and rolling hills, the property is also home to a grove of 140-year-old olive trees, vegetable gardens, beehives, and a few friendly alpacas and goats.
Family is at the heart of the estate and has been since it was founded in 2001. Today, the Taub family are at the helm, proudly stewarding the land and forging an even stronger foundation of superb quality—wines that give Mendocino its due as an exceptional winegrowing region.
The grapes for this Rosé are sourced from Lakeview Vineyard in the Sanel Valley of southern Mendocino County, just adjacent to the Russian River.
The growing season was marked by very low precipitation, with lower-than-average yields. Grapes were picked at a modest 21.2 Brix on October 11, 2022.
The grapes were hand-picked at dawn, and a blend of whole clusters and destemmed and lightly crushed fruit was loaded into an incredibly charming 1981 Bucher Vaslin press for a two hour soak prior to pressing. The juice was tank fermented cold and remained on lees for two months prior to bottling.
TASTING NOTESThe 2022 Grenache Rose begins with blood orange rind and alpine strawberry aromatics, an incredibly refreshing entry, great mid palate and pleasing length.
Pairs admirably with Mediterranean style grilled fish, summer veggies–in particular a tomato and watermelon salad. Or enjoy a glass on its own!
